You season three is on Netflix now and the nailbiting thriller was full of unexpected twists. As much as Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) tried to break his old habits, he developed an obsession with librarian Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). At the end of the season she left town and Joe went in pursuit of his love, but where has she gone?

What happened at the end of You season 3?

The latest instalment of You was the most dramatic yet as it saw Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) turn into a killing machine.

She started off by murdering her neighbour Nathalie Engler (Michaela McManus) as Joe had been attracted to her.

From here she was unable to curb her thirst for revenge as Joe’s wandering eye made her feel worthless.

In the season finale, she felt she had no choice but to kill Theo Engler (Dyland Arnold) as he found out about Sherry (Shalita Grant) and Cary Conrad (Travis Van Winkle).

Thankfully, he managed to survive the blow to the head and Joe sent him to a hospital.

Marienne almost became Love’s next victim, until she learned she was a mother to a young girl.

Love decided she could not take a mother away from her daughter and urged Marienne to flee Madre Linda and escape Joe.

She was determined to make Marienne understand Joe had tricked and used her, and Marienne was last seen leaving Love’s home with her daughter.

Joe and Love then fought to the death as they both realised how much they were weighed down by one another.

It was Joe who had the upper hand as he has pre-empted Love’s attack and managed to stop her heart with a lethal injection.

In the final moments, he was seen in Paris, looking for Marienne and her daughter as he believed they may have moved back to Marienne’s old home.

However, in the narration, he was heard saying he had no luck in finding them, but he would not stop looking.

If Joe does catch up with Marienne, she is likely to suffer the same fate as Joe’s previous partners.

However, if she takes Love’s advice on board, she will steer clear of the serial murderer at all costs.

Perhaps knowing Joe would come looking for her, she may have guessed Paris would be the first place he would look.

Joe asked Marienne to think of a place she would love to go so they could run away together.

She did not reveal where she would go, and instead only asked Joe to run away with them, confessing her love for him.

Joe told Marienne he would “see [her] in the sky” and it was the last time they saw each other.

The series has already been renewed for season four and it is likely to begin with Joe hunting down Marienne.

The cat and mouse game could continue across a number of episodes as Marienne starts having doubts about Joe’s authenticity.

Love had warned her about the “obsession” Joe developed, but it was not clear whether she took it on board.

As it seems she did not tell Joe her location before they left, she may have had second thoughts about him.

In the books on which the series is based, Joe becomes obsessed with a woman called Mary-Kaye.

Fans took this to mean Marienne would become Joe’s next victim in the latest season.

They will have to wait until season four to find out whether she was able to outrun him for good.
