Jimmy Hurdstram (played by Jefferson White) is one of Yellowstone’s original characters, having featured since season one, episode one. Unfortunately, a nasty horse accident at the end of season three saw the ranch hand left with a life-threatening injury. As Paramount gets ready to air the new episodes, fans of the TV series are wondering if Jimmy is dead and here is everything you need to know about the character’s fate.

Will Jimmy die in Yellowstone?

Despite being given advice by the owner of Yellowstone ranch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) it was dangerous to enter into the rodeo, Jimmy decided to get back on the horse.

He was told he could end up in an intensive care unit and in the final moments of season three, he was seen wearing a baseball cap, rather than a Stetson.

Having left his life on the ranch behind him, the young character thought he knew best and proceeded to enter into the rodeo.

Just before the credits rolled, fans took to social media to claim they heard a snap when Jimmy was bucked from the horse

It has been heavily speculated the actor who plays Jimmy, Jefferson, has finished filming for his role on the show seemingly indicating the character does die.

There has been no official announcement from the masterminds behind the show Jimmy is going to die in season four.

It could be likely he will spend most of the season in hospital as he tries to recover from his injuries.

As a consequence of his actions, he could also end up with a disability in the future which will prevent him from riding a horse ever again.

Fans noticed Jefferson was missing from a picture the actor who plays ranch foreman Rip Wheeler, Cole Hauser, posted on his social media platforms, again another hint he could very well have been killed off.

Not looking good

Jimmy will make an appearance in Yellowstone in some capacity in season four as a new trailer has seen him laid up in hospital.

However, it is yet to be seen if he will recover to the extent his life is saved or if he succumbs to his injures.

Taking to Twitter, a fan of the western-themed drama, Beth wrote: “Not looking good, should have learned to rope Jimmy.”

“Please don’t take Jimmy! I have a feeling from the footage and him not in the promos that he gets killed season four,” Rachel posted.

What happened to Jimmy in Yellowstone season three?

Jimmy faced a huge dilemma in season three when his loyalties to the ranch and John were tested to the extreme.

The youngster had fallen in love with his girlfriend Mia (Eden Brolin) and was debating whether to join her at the rodeo.

Explaining his character’s thought process, Jefferson said of his western-inspired alter-ego: “He is really conflicted.

“He has this sense of loyalty to John Dutton, to Rip, to Lloyd, to these people that have taken him in and given him a sense of community and belonging for the first time in his life.

“Mia, however, sees him in a way that none of them do,” the star of the Paramount drama told Decider.com.

Jefferson continued: “They all see him as a kind of a f**k up delinquent, a project they have to work on.

“Mia sees him as this rodeo star. She sees him as this kind of fantasy version of himself. That’s such an exciting and new thing for Jimmy, to feel that sense of pride and accomplishment.

“He feels torn in half because he realises that he has to choose between his life in the rodeo and his life on the ranch.”

So it could be a bittersweet demise as after finally making a decision, his life is snatched away from him.

Yellowstone season 4 premieres on Sunday, November 7 on Paramount Network in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
