Will there be a season 4 of Ackley Bridge?

08/07/2019

Ackley Bridge series three has come to an end and many fans have been left with mixed feeling about where the show has left off.

The most recent series included the most shocking and devastating scenes on the show so far when Missy Booth (Poppy Lee Friar) died following a car accident.

In the final episode viewers saw her friend Nas Paracha (Amy Leigh Hickman) depart for university, while we also saw new acting head Sian Oakes (Ty Glaser) begin an affair with Cory Wilson (Sam Retford), and the drama of Sam’s home life continued to unfold.

Many have been left wondering if there will be a fourth season, especially after two main characters in Missy and Nas have made their exits.

Will there be another series of Ackley Bridge?

Channel 4 hasn’t yet confirmed whether there will be a fourth series of the drama.

This doesn’t mean that fans can’t expect a new series, as the show’s writer Alexander Lamb feels that the show has potential to run for many more years.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Alexander said: ‘If Channel 4 wants to keep it, I think Ackley Bridge has got legs to last for a long, long time.’

Each year since 2017 a new series of the school drama has aired on in June, so fans can hopefully expect to see a new series announced for 2020.

The number of episodes in each series has varied quite dramatically, with series one consisting of just six episodes, before doubling to twelve in series two.

In the most recent series there were eight episodes, with the show concluding on Tuesday 6 August.
