Television presenter Vernon Kay was one of ten celebrities who landed in the Welsh countryside for this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! In his introductory video, he spoke about his fears, what he was looking forward to the most and how he signed up to make his two daughters proud. But speaking about the children he shares with Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, he noted how emotional he felt.
“I’m scared of the unknown and not knowing what’s going to happen and when,” he began.
“But I’m doing it for the kids – Amber and Phoebe – I want them to really enjoy me being in it [the show].
“Every time I mention the show, they go they can’t wait – but I don’t want to let them down, that’s why I keep welling up,
“It’s going to be hard and tough, but I’m looking forward to the mental and physical challenge of it,” Vernon told ITV viewers.
Vernon previously spoke in depth about why he signed up for his children.
“It’s a show they watch on a regular basis and they get behind the people in the camp. I think the fact I am involved in it will make it even more fun for them!” He said.
And they will be supporting him every step of the way, especially if he has to conquer his fear of confined spaces underwater.
“I am scared of confined spaces and being claustrophobic in water is a big one,” he admits.

“I don’t like that. The coffin trial? I am 6 ft 4 and so it is going to take a heck of a lot of water to get to my nose!
“But I will try my best in the trials to get as many stars as I can for my campmates.”
And how will he cope with camp rations?
“I like being full,” Vernon said. I don t like being peckish and I will be scraping around looking for leftovers.

“That is the one thing I am hoping to discover about myself – how I am when I am hungry!”
“I am hoping I can stay positive throughout it all.
“People will get fed up, bored and tired and I hope I can try and keep everything positive,” he remarked.
As for how Vernon was received by the public, it seems he is an early favourite.
Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “It’s early doors but I have high hopes for Sir Mo, Vernon and Giovanna. #Imaceleb.”
“Okay I love Gi, Vernon and Shane so far. #ImACeleb,” someone else chimed.
Another wrote: “Vernon Kay & Shane Ritchie are my faves so far #ImACeleb.”
