KAISER Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has promised he is “doing everything that is necessary” following a drunk performance on Saturday night.

The former Voice coach slurred his words and appeared to stagger around the stage during their set at London’s O2 Arena, with some fans later begging him to go to rehab.

Addressing the fall-out for the first time, the I Predict A Riot singer said he fell into “old drinking habits” and let himself down.

In a statement, Ricky explained: “I don’t want to make any lame excuses, I’ve met some challenges in this life I’ve led, and stayed on top of them with the support I’ve always had around me.

“The truth is I made a mistake on Saturday night at the O2, and relied on old drinking habits, it’s a mistake that upset and disappointed many of you, and some of those closest to me.

“I try to take pride in not letting people down and seem to have let myself down in that respect the other night. I’m doing everything that is necessary for me not to let that happen again. And will continue to.”

As well as being in the band for 22 years, he was a coach on The Voice for three series from 2014 to 2016.

The band are currently on a UK tour which is expected to continue in Hull this evening.

Fans had been left upset following Saturday’s show, with some saying that people walked out of the gig because of his behaviour on stage.

One wrote on Instagram: “Drunk & disorderly performance is an understatement for what I witnessed tonight. Such a shambles!

“Unfortunately, this has to be the worst live performance I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Another wrote on Twitter: “Truly disappointed and quite frankly Ricky needs to see a doctor or a rehab clinic.”

Someone else wrote: “I hope you get the support you need and deserve mate. And make it up to the band please… It was painful to watch as a fan.”
