ITV’s hit gameshow returned to screens for a third season and in the most recent episode, Poodle dropped a huge teaser about their identity. With a clue about their nickname, The Masked Singer fans are convinced Poodle could be the legend Brian May.
After Poodle dropped a number of hints and performed their rendition of Elton John’s Rocketman – the judges were left to guess the identity of the celebrity under the mask.
With the hints which included the Royal Variety performance, dogs and the royal family, viewers were also trying to identify Poodle.
On the panel, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Davina McCall predicted Rylan, Adam Lambert or Paul O’Grady could be under the mask.
However, viewers held other opinions about which celebrity could be Poodle – with one suggesting it could be the musical icon Brian May, lead guitarist of the rock band Queen.
The fan took to Reddit to explain their theory: “We saw a bunch of collars with the names of QUEENS on them, I don’t think I have to spell it out.
“The build seems to match up well too, as Poodle appears to be very tall and slender, Brian is the tallest member of the group and is pretty skinny.
User, Yojojoisgod added: “The clue of ‘I have been on a very long walkies’ could be a reference to the music video for ‘Is This the Way to Amarillo’ which featured Peter Kay walking on a treadmill in front of a green-screen alongside several celebrities, with Brian and fellow bandmate Roger Taylor being some of them.”
Other viewers responded in agreement and added their own theories: “His nickname was also ‘Poodle’ because of his hair,” wrote Prestiguis_Tough845.
KnightSkye shared: “Plus he wears acrylic nails when he’s playing guitar,” which was a clue Poodle teased on The Masked Singer.
Despite the evidence suggesting it could be Brian, another fan, Gabrshed disagreed and predicted another musician close to Queen.
“Tom Chaplin, lead singer of Keane, did a tour with Queen, he’s definitely my guess,” wrote the viewer.
The recent episode of The Masked Singer saw Chandelier become the first character of the season to be unmasked.
Viewers and the judges were shocked to see soul singer Heather Small was the celebrity under the mask.
Although the voices of the contestants were already altered to have a high pitch, Heather later admitted changing her voice to become completely.
She confessed to also disguising her distinctive singing voice for a chance to win the competition.
After her performance, the panel guessed between Rachel Riley, Debbie McGee and Jane McDonald.
Snow Leopard was also voted out while Bagpipes and Rockhopper went through in the final three.
Behind the mask was Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford was unveiled, becoming the second voted out after Heather Small left in the premiere.
Fans will have to tune in for a chance into the upcoming episode to find out which celebrity Poodle is.
The Masked Singer UK continues Saturday on ITV.
