Bradley Walsh instantly shut down the advice of one payer on The Chase this Thursday, as she wondered whether her teammate Joe should go low.

When she hinted Joe mightn't make it through to the final – despite earning more than her in the cash builder – Bradley was quick to put Karen in her place.

Karen was the first player to face Chaser Jenny Ryan, and after earning £7,000 in the cash builder round, she managed to make it through to the final unscathed.

The next two players were quickly booted out of the competition, as Jenny's seemingly bottomless well of knowledge left them floundering.

When player four – Joe – stepped up, he sailed through the cash builder round, earning a near-perfect £8,000 after the series of quick-fire questions.

However, when he was faced with the decision of whether to go high or low, he received some surprising advice from Karen.

"I know you're a better player than that," she began, before advising: "I would say go for the low offer."

Bradley immediately interjected, and shouted: "No!"

Guiding Joe back to the hot seat, he insisted he needed to choose the middle offer at the very least – advice Joe took on board.

After a tense play-off with Jenny, Joe managed to make it through to the final with £8,000 to his name, boosting their overall kitty to £15,000.

Bradley was a little smug, as he scolded Karen and pointed out: "You can't get eight in a cash builder and then go low!"

Jenny, also known as The Vixen, made it clear she had a challenge on her hands, as she mused: "The two best players in the team got through in the book ends."

Like many contestants who have fallen before them, the pressure of the final round proved too much for Joe and Karen, who correctly answered just 13 questions.

Not even the occasional pushback was enough to secure their fortune, and Jenny successfully knocked them out of the competition with seconds to spare.

The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
