Tearful Wendy Williams ‘deeply’ apologizes for claiming gay men shouldn’t wear ‘skirts and heels’ – The Sun

A tearful Wendy Williams said in a Twitter video she "deeply" apologizes for claiming gay men shouldn't wear "skirts and heels."

The video comes after remarks the daytime host made on her talk show yesterday viewers slammed as "disgusting" and "ignorant."

Wendy said in a video: "I'll start by saying I apologize. I did not mean to offend my LGBTQ+ community on yesterday's show.

"I did not realize until I got home and I watched the second running of our show here in New York. And I always watch when I can to critique my delivery or the cameras, the lights, the audience.

"I'm very persnickety about how I do my show, and one thing that I can tell you right now is that I never do the show in a place of malice.

"I understand my platform with the community from first grade, to intermediate school, to high school, to college, to radio and now to TV. And I didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings, I'm just having a conversation."

She remorsefully took to Twitter today: "If you know me long enough, then you know, 'Bon vivant [sic].' I don't even know what that means, but it sounds fabulous.

"In my mind it means 'live and let live,' 'Bon vivant [sic].' And I live and let live everyday. life is too short.

"I'm 55 years old, and maybe I sound like your auntie, your mother, your big sister or somebody out of touch. I'm not out of touch, except for perhaps yesterday, by saying what I said.

"So I deeply apologize , and I deeply appreciate the support that I get from the community. I will do better. I appreciate you supporting me. Thank you."

The video follows Wendy's remarks about gay men participating in "Galentine's Day" during Thursday's Hot Topics segment.

She said gay men should "stop wearing our skirts and our heels. Just saying girls, what do we have for ourselves?

"Look at here, gay men you'll never be the women that we are no matter how gay."

A shocked viewer sounded off: "People are allowed to wear whatever they want. Don't act dumb!"

Another wrote: "@WendyWilliams really? What sort of ignorance is coming out of your mouth regarding gay men wanting to be women!! Really Wendy?"

A third follower tweeted: "Wendy Williams, DAMN! She’s trying to cancel herself."

Last month, Wendy was slammed or appearing to joke about Academy Award-winner's Joaquin Phoenix's cleft lip.

Superstar Cher even said she should be "fired" for the comments.

Wendy soon apologized, and made a donation to Operation Smile and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.
