Sweet Tooth is dropping on Netflix June 9. Fans are already thinking about the possibility of a second season ahead of the premiere. But will Sweet Tooth get a season two?

Will Sweet Tooth return for season two?

Netflix has big plans for Sweet Tooth and is hedging their bets on it as the series is already confirmed for a second season.

This is before season one is even out, with the premiere set for June 9, 2021.

Sweet Tooth is an adaptation of the Vertigo graphic novel of the same name, which is owned by DC Comics.

The comic book was originally published in 2009 and ran until 2012 after 40 issues were released by Canadian author Jeff Lemire.

Season one of the new Netflix series will be introducing viewers to the world of Sweet Tooth, and laying the foundation for more series to come.

With 40 issues published, the show has plenty of material to work with, meaning more episodes beyond season two is also likely.

The second season also already has a release date of June 3, 2022, meaning it will premiere exactly this time next year.

Currently, the plot for season two is unknown and will completely depends on where the plot of season one goes.

As this is an adaptation, the show may choose to diverge from the original series and begin telling a slightly different tale.

Alternatively, it could prove to be very faithful to the original comic, meaning fans can spoil the series for themselves now and read the source material.

The cast for season two is largely known as well, with both Christian Convery and Nonso Anozie returning as Gus and Tommy Jepperd, respectively.

Also returning will be Adeel Akhtar, Will Forte, and James Brolin as the series director.

Robert Downey Jr, who is producing the series, will also be back overseeing the show as his company, Team Downey, are attached to the series.

There is no trailer or further details on season two, with Netflix wanted to keep fans guessing ahead of season one.

Just like season one, season two will consist of eight episodes which will all be available to binge on June 3, 2022.

Netflix is also adapting another Vertigo graphic novel, The Sandman, which is also expected to drop in 2022.

Netflix recently dropped the trailer for the series ahead of its release next week and fans have taken to the comments to share their excitement.

One fan said: “I never heard of the comic. Looking forward to this series.”

Another shared: “2 words that I never thought I saw together: Robert Downey Jr. & DC comics.”

A third added: “I hope this turns into another cinematic universe, which may or may not involve a depressed talking horse.”

Sweet Tooth will be available to watch exclusively on Netflix from June 9.
