Strictly champ Bill Bailey says he ‘almost set fire to studio’ in finale mishap12/21/2020
Bill Bailey appeared on Lorraine on Monday where he admitted he almost "burnt down" the Strictly Come Dancing studio.
The star was joined by GMB presenter Ranvir Singh, who also competed on the dance show this year and was stepping in to host Lorraine Kelly's show, to discuss his time on Strictly.
He ended up telling a rather interesting and chaotic story of how he nearly made the set go up in flames.
Ranvir reminded Bill of the incident and encouraged him to speak about it.
Explaining what happened, Bill said: "What happened was there was a pre-recorded section where we did a walk down at the beginning of the show."
Bill continued: "Jamie [Laing] and I were on one side, Maisie [Smith] and HRVY on the other and we had a count in then you had to walk down.
"Of course, we missed it. We was like, 'Was that it? Was that eight or four?' Then a stage manager said, 'I'll count you in.'
"So, we said 'That's fine, between us we can count to eight,' and then just as I said that I kicked over one of the pyrotechnic boxes, tripped over that and then nearly tripped down the stairs.
"That would've been a great way to kickstart the show – Bill Bailey sets light to his trousers, sets fire to the studio."

He continued: "We can't be left alone for a second."
Also on Monday's Lorraine, Ranvir was left looking flustered after she spoke to her dance partner Giovanni Pernice over video link.
The dancer appeared on the show to wish her good luck at her first day back of presenting.
He wore only a robe and appeared to not have anything on underneath it.
Dressed in a black and white silk wrap-around dress, Ranvir replied: "Oh bless his heart.
"Was it only me that noticed he wasn't wearing anything under that?"
Looking flustered, she continued: "Anyway, never mind."
Blowing a kiss back at the hunky dancer, Ranvir said: "Thank you, beautiful Giovanni. What a nice boy he is."
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV
