TV’s Good Morning Britain saw Charlotte Hawkins and Ranvir Singh discuss the rumours Meghan Markle could be running for President. Tom Bower commented on the former Duchess of Sussex being “sensitive” to negative press coverage and when it was TV Screenwriter Amna Saleem’s turn to give her thoughts, she was quick to hit out at the remark and branded it “sexist”.

Amna said: “If we’re going to talk about negative coverage – what I don’t understand with the British press and things I’ve had to deal with myself – why are we in a position where racism is something we have to accept as part of the deal?

“Why is it that Meghan is not being commended for standing up for herself and saying ‘this isn’t acceptable’ if anything it seems people just want her to swallow this.

“I don’t think at any point she should stop being sensitive to racism or misogamy because how would that make her an effective leader?

“It would make her a more effective leader as she understands exactly why those are so detrimental, also why are women find it hard to get into politics in the first place,” she added.
