For three seasons in hit Crackle drama StartUp, Otmara Marrero kept fans on the edges of their seats with her portrayal of cryptocurrency wiz, Izzy Morales. Over the course of 30 episodes, Crackle viewers got to witness the brash Izzy try to get her own cryptocurrency Gencoin off the ground before spiralling into the action-packed, backstabbing and rollercoaster criminal underbelly the dark web brings with it. And while StartUp has seen a resurgence in popularity after it arrived on Netflix this year, the actor has signed up for a new role elsewhere.
Rumours surrounding a renewal for StartUp have been rife ever since the series debuted on Netflix in 2021.
StartUp ran for three seasons on Crackle between 2016 and 2018 before Marrero and fellow leading stars Adam Brody and Edi Gathegi had to move on to pastures new.
Following its premiere on Netflix, however, thousands have fans have called on the drama to be picked up given the cliffhanger of the season three finale.
“Glad startup is on Netflix now. Hopefully there’s a season 4. Been rewatching season 2 for years,” one fan said on Twitter, while a second echoed: “Just finished binge watching StartUp. We need a season 4.”
“Hey @netflix please make Startup season 4. [prayer emoji],” added a third.
While a fourth also called on the streaming service to capitalise on its popularity: “@netflix bring Startup back! We need season 4!”
However, with still no official word from Crackle, Netflix or any other streamer on the future of the series, Marrero has instead signed up to star in Netflix series, Florida Man.
The upcoming drama follows ex-cop Mike who returns home to Florida as he hunts a Philadelphia-based mobster’s girlfriend.
However, inevitably things are far from plain sailing and the former officer finds himself in an intriguing struggle of his own morality, exposing buried family secrets and constantly toying between what’s right and wrong.
Florida Man is led by The Undoing’s Edgar Ramirez and Marrero joined the cast alongside a number of other big names.
The StartUp star will play Mike’s sister Patsy and is described as an upbeat and churchgoing mother who’ll do anything to keep her family together.
Elsewhere, the likes of Riviera’s Anthony LaPaglia, Lovecraft Country’s Abbey Lee, Training Day’s Lex Scott Davis and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD star Clark Gregg have also joined the project.

StartUp stars give a disappointing update on season 4 plans
The series is currently in production ahead of its exclusive release on Netflix in the future.
In the meantime, StartUp season four still seems unlikely with a handful of the show’s crew addressing the calls for a revival.
Director Luis Prieto worked on season one of the Crackle series and was asked about the possibility of it returning by Express.co.uk.
He exclusively said: “This, I really don’t know. It was a Crackle show and from the story, it was working very well.
“I think people were aware it was connecting with the audience but I’m not sure what happened.
“Sometimes things just stop and sometimes it’s for the best. I’m sure Ben Ketai would be extremely excited to continue the adventure.”
So for now, it looks like fans will have to wait until Florida Man to see Marrero back on screens as a return for Izzy looks off the cards.
Marrero’s CV also boasts roles in Connecting…, Launchpad, Day by Day and Vandal.
StartUp seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Netflix UK now. StartUp season 3 is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video UK.
