Spoilers: EastEnders star reveals Kim's reaction to Raymond's return

11/19/2020

EastEnders simply hasn’t been the same without Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), but there’s plenty of reasons to celebrate, as the icon herself makes a huge return in the coming episodes.

However, she’s set to receive quite the shock!

Kim has been absent for quite some time, and in that time, sister Denise (Diane Parish) has had a lot to cope with.

Her biological son Raymond Dawkins has returned home, after his adoptive parents were killed in a car accident.

Upon realising that the boy’s adoptive grandmother Ellie Nixon (Mica Paris) was a gangster, Denise decided to team up with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) to gain custody.

With Kim having been in Scotland, she’s got no idea about what has transpired in her Walford during her absence, but that’s all set to change when she returns home next week.

‘[Denise is] Very shocked!’ said actress Tameka Empson, teasing Kim’s return, ‘She is not expecting me to walk in, especially interrupting her one to one time with Jack so she is very shocked. Of course she is happy to see me, I haven’t been around! It was a shock to her.’

Denise isn’t the only one that receives a shock, however, as Kim soon learns that Raymond is back in the Square. Tameka said: ‘It’s a mixed reaction, because if you can remember, Kim wanted to adopt him, and Denise said no.

‘She gave the impression that she didn’t want Kim to bring up her son, and that really made Kim feel bad, because she has always thought that thy are sisters, they would be in it together throughout everything, but once she said no, Kim really took that blow hard.

‘To come back and see her nephew is a shock and she does have a little bit of a go at Denise, because she could have avoided all of this had she just given her son to her in the first place.

‘I think Kim may feel that she still has to prove herself, Kim has changed know, she’s a mother of two, she’s been married, she’s coping ok to think that she still hasn’t made that mark, has really left a deep wound. Maybe they will make it up, keep watching!

‘Now that he’s home, I think they are just rolling up their sleeves and dealing with it, they are family, there is only so much you can be angry at a family member for. Essentially they do have each other’s backs.

‘Kim may throw it in an argument again one day but in terms of moving forward, I think she welcomes him, and is being the fun loving Auntie Kim all over again.’

Speaking about her return to EastEnders, Tameka added: ‘I was very excited, it’s been a long time away, and I am a great fan of the show, and have been watching it.

‘So I was keeping up to date about what’s going on, but I did miss it. I love motherhood, I love staying at home, but sometimes it’s nice to put on the heels again, I miss Kimberley’s heels!’
