The Chase: Celebrity Special saw MasterChef star Gregg Wallace taking on Shaun Wallace, also known as The Dark Destroyer, on the popular ITV quiz show. One exchange between host Bradley Walsh and Chaser Shaun saw the presenter cracking a joke regarding one of the questions, but when Shaun failed to react so Bradley waved to him, but the quizzing expert asked if it was supposed to be funny. Other famous faces joining Gregg on the repeat episode of the show were Olympian Denise Lewis, sports broadcaster Mark Pougatch and comedian Gina Yashere.

Gregg was the first to face the Chaser and managed to gain an impressive £6,000 in the cash builder round before going head to head with Shaun.

But he managed to keep his cool and was successful against the Chaser.

At one point Bradley asked the pair: “In 2017, which Caucasian country was above Italy in the World rugby Union rankings?”

The options were Armenia, Georgia or Azerbaijan. Gregg went with the middle option.

“You’ve put Georgia – got to be,” Bradley, 61, commented.

Gregg replied: “Well, they’re talking about now including Georgia in the Six Nations instead of Italy, so I’m guessing.”

“Okay,” Bradley answered. “The correct answer is Georgia.”

He added: “Chaser’s put Georgia.” Making a reference to the song, Bradley jokingly asked Shaun: “Georgia always on your mind?”

Shaun kept a straight face as the crowd laughed, and Bradley began waving in front of him.

“Oh, that was meant to be funny?” Shaun quipped, rolling his eyes.

The audience began to boo as the gameshow host remarked: “Oh, it’s like a panto in here!”

Earlier in the show, Gregg, 56, aimed a savage joke at Shaun, 61.

He told Bradley when he first arrived that he’d like to take on Shaun because they have the same last name and are both bald with glasses.

When Shaun later appeared in the Chaser’s seat, he commented: “You’re quite right Gregg, we do have the same hairstyle, same surname. It’s like meeting my tribute act.”

Gregg joked: “The difference between me and you, is I make this bald head and glasses look good.”

Shaun didn’t react as he instead looked over at the team and said: “Hi Gina.”

“Don’t start doing your own stand-up routine in here, cockle,” Bradley responded, adding: “Calm down!”

Gregg was able to take a seat with the remaining contestants after escaping Shaun’s grasp, but unfortunately Denise, who was up next, was caught and had to leave.

Mark then made the bold decision to aim for the higher offer of £84,000 and luckily, the whopping amount was added to the team’s winnings.

Gina also made it to the Final Chase but the trio were ultimately beaten by Shaun.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
