Rita Simons has EastEnders scripts for Roxy return from the dead

EastEnders star Rita Simons has revealed that fans have sent her scripts, which detail various ways and ideas about how Roxy Mitchell could return from the dead.

Roxy, as viewers will recall, was killed off with sister Ronnie (Samantha Womack) on the latter’s wedding day six years ago, in what became one of the most controversial soap moments ever.

Fans were devastated by the axing of the two incredibly popular characters, with some claiming to have stopped watching the show as a result.

Rita Simons, who played Roxy, has discussed the love for her character in a new interview, explaining that fans still to this day ask her if a possible return could be on the cards, with some even sending her scripts with believable ways to bring her back.

‘To this day, I will get – whether it’s tweets, whether it’s someone in the street, whether it’s someone on Instagram, whether it’s a parent of a school – not that I go to school anymore: “Why did they kill you? Why did they kill you? I stopped watching. Come back, come back. Come on. If they can do it with [Dallas character] Bobby Ewing, they could do it with you,” the soap star told Radio Times.

‘Yeah, I get it every day. I get scripts sent to me of ideas of how to come back from fans. Fans send me scripts that they’ve written. It has not stopped in six years.

Despite sister Ronnie’s body being seen on screens, fans haven’t stopped asking for both she and Roxy to stage a comeback.

But what does Rita reckon?

‘If you see some of the scripts I’ve seen, I mean, who knows?’, she said, adding that she couldn’t say any more than that.

Make it happen, EastEnders!

Rita recently revealed that she underwent a hysterectomy after seeing a consultant over her ‘debilitating’ periods.

‘I was in panto and I got to the point where I was telling my agent not to book me on dates where I knew I’d be on my period, because it was so difficult to work,’ she told OK! Magazine earlier this year.
