'RHOD': Tiffany Moon Breaks Silence on Brandi Redmond and Their Friendship Status

Tiffany Moon joined The Real Housewives of Dallas in Season 5. The anesthesiologist came in during a crucial moment of the show involving Brandi Redmond. Moon was the first housewife of Asian descent cast as a full-time housewife on the Bravo reality series and was a breath of fresh air. Her friendship with Moon was rocky throughout season 5 and the doctor is updating fans on where she stands with Redmond now.

What did Brandi Redmond say about Asians?

After the season 4 reunion, a social media video went viral that showed Redmond poking fun of Asians. Redmond received major backlash from viewers and some even started a petition to have her removed from the series. The former cheerleader apologized and went to therapy to deal with the fallout she was experiencing.

When RHOD Season 5 premiered, the elephant in the room was addressed pretty quickly. Redmond revealed she had suicidal thoughts following the backlash and it was hard for her to process everything. In her mind, she didn’t feel she was being racist but Moon explained to her why it was.

Moon, who was born in China and emigrated to the U.S. at a young age, faced racism growing up. She explained that kids would make fun of her eyes and it’s something that still hurts her.

Although things went smooth between Moon and Redmond, during a cast trip the latter said she was not comfortable around the doctor. The redhead said that she didn’t know how to act around her. And things got a little sour after that as it was Redmond’s problem, not Moon’s.

Tiffany Moon recalls her time with Brandi Redmond

As RHOD Season 5 comes to an end, Moon is recalling her time on the show. During a recent interview, she remembered how her first encounter with Redmond was.

“The first time Brandi and I ever started hanging out together, I tried to talk to her about my immigrating to America and how I saw her video that she had posted way back,” Moon told E! News. “I told her that that was in poor taste and the reason she probably received so much backlash from it was it was hurtful to a lot of people because it reminded them of their childhood traumas dealing with racism and micro-aggressions.”

Moon said Redmond told her she didn’t mean to be racist and was only trying to be funny.

“I was like, ‘Girl, I believe you. I totally believe you.’ Let’s move on, let’s be silly, let’s have fun,” Moon said she told Redmond after their conversation.

Moon recalls that things changed during their trip to Austin Redmond told her she was uncomfortable, something that took the anesthesiologist by surprise.

“After that it was good and we had a lot of fun after that,” Moon added. “That’s what I mean by the roller coaster, we were up and we were down and we were up and we were down.

Are Brandi Redmond and Tiffany Moon friends?

With the show having ended production, the RHOD ladies don’t have to see each other anymore. However, Moon said that she feels she’s “in a good place with Brandi” and doesn’t “think anything bad of her.”

“She just had a beautiful baby girl not too long ago. I sent over a basket of gifts for her baby and a nice, pink little Hermes blanket and told her, ‘You know, you’ve been through so much this season, I just hope you and I can be in a good place right now,’” Moon explained.

“And she responded back and said, ‘Thank you so much for the baby gift. I’m going to get it embroidered with her name and everything.’ So I think that we’re in a good place.”

Moon holds her reservations about where she stands with the ladies though as she also said she’s believed she had been good with them and it turned out not to be reciprocated. However, as of right now, Moon is hopeful that she “could have a good friendship moving forward” with Redmond.
