The actor who plays DI Neville Parker on the hit ITV drama opened up about what it's like to make history with his character – saying it's been "fulfilling and flattering".

I think it's really, really fulfilling and flattering to have been able to do it for as long as I have," Ralf told Hello! Magazine.

Love Island Paige: 'I’ve quit booze as I’ve been struggling and not in a good place'

"It's exhausting. It's physically demanding. It's relentless in terms of every day you're out there and it's hot and tiring and mentally tiring. Like when you work hard. We do. But I just love it."

Don Warrington, who plays Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, said: "In terms of weather, it’s very hot in the suit, also this season we have had a lot of rain.

"When it rains here, boy does it rain! We have had to stop and wait many times because we can’t hear each other as it’s so loud."

New cast member, Chelsea Edge also addressed the difficulties she experienced when filming, as she revealed the "most challenging thing" has been getting the scene right "over the sounds of nature".

She explained: "As soon as the sun sets, there are these tiny frogs that make the loudest noise. The rain has also been a challenge – it really does pour – similar to being in Manchester."

Death in Paradise returns on Boxing Day on BBC One followed by series 12 from January 6, 2023. A spin-off, Beyond Paradise, is in production.
