Phillip Schofield admits to feeling sad as he addresses This Morning no-show

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield has addressed his absence on the popular ITV show while admitting to feeling "sad".

The 60 year old who hasn't appeared on a live programme since mid December, took to his Instagram to share a sweet snap of himself from Copenhagen.

Smiling radiantly for his selfie, Phil could be seen standing beside the river bank while wearing a black coat and grey hoodie.

Captioning the pic, he wrote: "Sad to leave Copenhagen. No question, the friendliest city I’ve ever visited."

Since the Christmas period began, This Morning fans have been treated to pre-recorded shows featuring long-running hosts Phil and Holly Willoughby.

This included the Christmas day special where the presenters said their goodbyes to viewers for the year.

Last week, more pre-recorded shows were aired which were previously filmed during the FIFA World Cup which saw the show off air for the majority of November.

But leading into the New Year, viewers expected to see Holly and Phil back on their screens on Tuesday (December 3) to resume business as usual.

Instead, replacement hosts Andi Peters and Josie Gibson took the reigns.

Kick starting the show, Andi said: "Hello and welcome to your Tuesday's This Morning," before Josie Gibson added: "But this isn't any old This Morning, this is your first of 2023!"

The pair also hosted Wednesday's episode too which saw them discuss a number of topics including Covid, politics and Kiwi shoe shine polish being removed from UK shelves.

Despite Andi and Josie doing a fantastic job, fans still headed over to Twitter to discuss Holly and Phil's no-show.

One viewer penned: "Obviously Holly and Phil can't return to work at the same time as us normal peasants."

Another viewer joked: "I guess Holly and Phil are extremely tired after pre-recording the Christmas content several weeks ago."

While a third added: "Need Holly and Phil back."

The news comes after Phil took to his Instagram to share his New Year's activities in Copenhagen.

Sharing a smiley photo of himself on Instagram, he said: "Before it all happens…Just to say I'm partying, not only to welcome in the new year, but to be absolutely sure 2022 has buggered off!!!"
