Netflix's Cobra Kai Season 3 Arriving Early — on New Year's Day!12/24/2020
What a way to kick off the new year! Cobra Kai season 3 is dropping a week early.
The latest installment of the Karate Kid sequel series, starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, now will arrive on Netflix on New Year's Day.
In a cheeky announcement video, Zabka's Johnny Lawrence is eyeing the show's Netflix landing page, which lists a Jan. 8 premiere date. Despite being hilariously non-tech-savvy, he manages to tweak both the show description and the date.
"Johnny Lawrence wins at life and gets all the hot babes and Daniel loses everything. It's the feel-good story of the year. Zebra rocks!" reads the new show synopsis.
When he scrolls over to the release date, he decides Jan. 8 is just "too long" from now — and changes it to Jan. 1. "Send it to the internet!" he shouts.
The show is a continuation of the story of Daniel LaRusso (Macchio) and Johnny, 30 years after the events that unfolded in the original 1984 movie. Now, instead of fighting over a girl (played unforgettably by Elisabeth Shue), they are senseis at warring karate dojos.
The new season picks up shortly after the violent high school brawl that ended season 2 and left Johnny's student Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) in a coma.
A recent trailer for season 3 confirmed the return of two big characters from Karate Kid II: Chozen (Yuji Okumoto), Daniel's enemy in the movie, and his love former interest, Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita).
The new season, also starring Mary Mouser, Courtney Henggeler, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo and Peyton List, may see Daniel and Johnny up against a common enemy in Kreese (Martin Kove), who is attempting to return the Cobra Kai karate dojo to the intense, "no mercy" organization it once was.
Cobra Kai season 3 will be available for streaming on Netflix on Jan. 1.
