Netflix fans 'can't stop crying' at first trailer for new teen drama Heartstopper

NETFLIX fans have been left in floods of tears at the first trailer for the new LGBTQ+ teen drama Heartstopper.

This uplifting eight-part series is about teen friendship and young romance is set to hit the streaming platform later this month.

Teens Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) discover their unlikely friendship might be something more as they navigate school and young love in this coming-of-age show.

Based on the graphic novel by Alice Oseman, the tagline reads: "Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love."

Netflix’s official synopsis says of the show: “When gentle Charlie and rugby-loving Nick meet at secondary school, they quickly discover that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance.

“Charlie, Nick and their circle of friends must navigate the ever-relatable journey of self discovery and acceptance, supporting each other as they learn to find their most authentic selves.”

The emotional trailer shows the blossoming friendship between Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson.

Charlie, who is openly gay, is immediately fascinated by Nick and admits it's more than just a "crush".

Charlie struggles with his feelings for Nick, who he believes is straight, as the pair grow close.

Meanwhile Nick begins to explore his own sexuality and asks Charlie to join the rugby team.

The trailer has left viewers desperate to binge the whole series, which is set to premiere on Netflix on April 22.
