Neighbours stars unable to appear in GMB studio as Coronavirus restricts travel03/13/2020
Neighbours cast members Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne have shared their "disappointment" over having to cancel their London trip, thanks to Coronavirus.
Travel restrictions have been placed in Australia, and across the world, with the COVID-19 strain now declared a pandemic.
Karl and Susan Kennedy stars Jackie and Alan were due to appear live on Good Morning Britain on Friday, in the studio.
While the interview still went ahead, it had to happen over video link with the pair in Australia.
The precautions and measures taken to tackle Coronavirus in different countries has led to several flight cancellations and transport closures.
Alan and Jackie were no longer able to make the trip to London and appear in the GMB studio because of this.
But the pair, despite being "sad", confessed it was a "necessity" to follow the guidance given by experts.
As hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard shared their own disappointment, Jackie told them: "We're just so sad we can't be with you in person."
Alan then explained: "Well as you know there's been some necessity for travel restrictions, primarily a lot of it has to do with insurance to be honest.
"Fremantle have placed the safety of cast and crew, everyone in building, at the highest level. At this stage we just have to be cautious."
Jackie added: "We are very disappointed but this is not a time to second guess the experts, so we have to stay put."
The pair will be part of a huge week on the Australian soap next week, as they celebrate the show's 35th anniversary.
Late night episodes will air all week as well as the normal daytime episodes.
With five weddings, three deaths and a load of returns, fans are in for a treat.
Jackie teased: "The aftermath of what happens is as dramatic and riveting as the events themselves, there's a lot of repercussions for us and our relationship."
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1:45pm and 5:30pm on Channel 5.
