After being hit with significant delays amid the outbreak of coronavirus back in March, filming for the sixth season of Lucifer is finally underway.
This means the last eight episodes of the show’s acclaimed fifth instalment could also be just around the corner.
As leading man Tom Ellis and co. returned to work, the cast and crew have been busy teasing the new series from the socially distanced set.
While plot details have been kept tightly under wraps, the surprise sixth season could feature any number of twists and turns after Lucifer was unexpectedly renewed earlier this year.
However, fans have already pinpointed the upcoming fifth season finale as a potential arena for a major death in the series.
Some perceptive viewers have noticed principal cast member Lauren German (Chloe Decker) has yet to be spotted on set during filming for season six.
Although most ‘Lucifans’ have shrugged this off as a coincidence, others are convinced this means Lucifer will be mourning the loss of his true love in the final season.
The debate was kicked off by a recent post on Reddit, which pointed to comments made by co-star Lesley-Ann Brandt (Mazikeen) about an upcoming death.
Redditor bigyikes27 posted: “Based on Lesley’s interview about how as a mother the death hit her particularly hard, it wouldn’t be far off to believe Chloe was the one who died and left Trixie behind?”
Chloe’s passing would be a devastating loss for her daughter Trixie (Scarlett Estevez), who has grown to consider Lucifer as a second father figure over the course of the series.
The watchful fan also indicated a number of hints from social media which could indicate Chloe’s absence in Lucifer’s final adventure.
They continued: “There have not been any pictures or videos showing Lauren is also filming. We’ve seen everyone else from the cast from BTS photos or videos.”

“Lauren also made a post earlier this month saying she’s planning on moving soon and asked for location suggestions…”
Lauren German’s ominous absence from Lucifer season six updates could be the strongest indicator yet that showrunners Modrovich and Henderson could be about to make a lot of fans very unhappy.
On the other hand, comments from the showrunner herself seem to suggest otherwise.
One fan replied: “I remember there was a tweet recently asking Ildy [Modrovich] if Chloe dies and she responded something like ‘do you really think we would do that after everything?’”
Following their emotional heart-to-heart in season five, part one, Lucifer definitely seems to be building up to an emotional climax for the fan favourite couple.
More viewers were also quick to remind fellow speculators that German is among the more private members of the cast, and rarely posts filming updates on social media.
With some fans threatening to cancel their Netflix subscription if these predictions are correct, it’s safe to say most ‘Lucifans’ would be distraught if ‘Deckerstar’ didn’t get their happy ending.
