Kardashian fans call out family's ‘tacky’ business ‘tricks’ after noticing detail about multi-billion dollar empire | The Sun


KARDASHIAN fans have called out the family for their "tacky" business "tricks" after spotting a subtle detail about their massive empire.

Critics suggested that "doing it all" might not be the best move.

On Reddit, a fan of the famous family raise a point about the Kardashian-Jenner business empire.

They noted: "Genuinely not trying to shame, but does anyone else feel like the Kardashian/Jenners (namely Kim) have so many businesses that it almost feels tacky/unfocused?

"I’m trying to find the right words to say this, and I’m definitely not talking about skims, but from her Kim Kardashian video game (which I think is no more) to KKW beauty, to Kardashian kids and I’m definitely forgetting some—it almost feels chaotic and not streamlined."

The poster went on: "Her businesses do well and I think they’re all pretty good business people, but it appears more sophisticated when people can stick to one lane/industry and really take their time with it. Kylie swim, the Kendall/Kylie clothing lines, and Kendall/Kylie’s book from a million years ago are other examples. I guess I’m just less inclined to buy from a brand/person that appears to “do everything” vs long-established industry classics that have been around forever."

Other fans were quick to jump in, with one offering up: "I saw something about Musk that applies to the KJs: If a CEO can be CEO of multiple companies, then it must not be that much work to be CEO."

Another wrote: "I would take Kim more seriously if she had focused just on Skims. The gazillion other side businesses just seem like a crash grab instead of truly sustainable businesses. Kendall seems to generally be involved in 818 as does Khloe to a lesser extent with Good American. Kourtney's gummies/health wellness BS is very on-brand for her but she completely missed the timing by waiting so long.

"Kylie has 3 businesses and definitely either doesn't care or is spread way too thin to give them the time and energy that they need."

The commenter concluded: "Their problem is instead of focusing on one business and building it and making it better and better over time they think that it is better to have multiple businesses because it makes them look more successful than they are."

Someone else chimed in: "Unfocused I think describes it well."


The Kardashians have each faced their share of backlash over their businesses as of late.

Kourtney, 43, for her part, was recently slammed after releasing an elixir called Lemme Fall in Love.

The mixture "is formulated with 8 traditionally-used botanicals. Organic Ginger Root: creates warming energy and supports circulation. Damiana Leaf: uplifts and boosts passion. Linden Flower: relieves nervous tension and supports mood.

"Honeysuckle Flower: elicits feelings of excitement and happiness. Hawthorn Flower: detoxes and purifies. Damask Rose & Provence Rose: symbolizes love and romance. Heather Leaf & Flower: supports love and admiration."

Fans were quick to make fun of the concoction, calling it a gimmick.

"It’s not very clear what exactly we’re supposed to use this for – like what’s its purpose?" one asked.

"Am I supposed to resonate with this?" a second complained.

A third put shortly: "Cringe asf."

Someone else wrote: "She said love potion."

Another skeptic commented: "This is so much bulls**t it’s unreal. Gross marketing ploy, don’t fall for this one. No comment on the other ones tbh as haven’t looked, but this one is a REACH. Ask a real f**king doctor."

Weeks earlier, as the brand launched, fans ripped Kourtney's products as "overpriced."

On Instagram, one disappointed would-be customer wrote: "We need afterpay."

Another commented: "$30 for one thing? I should have guessed it would be a luxury brand."

She also faced backlash over shipping and the ingredients in her new products. 

"Why would you use ubiquinone instead of ubiquinol? Why use cyanocobalamin instead of methylcobalamin?" one fan wrote. 

"Everyone considering purchasing these please do your research on the ingredients. I was excited for these but they are not even using active forms of ingredients, basically wasting your money on inactive ingredients that do not absorb properly."

A second critic commented: "Was so excited but can’t order them as I live in Canada."


Kim, too, has faced some drama in the wake of a new business venture.

The star's SKKN brand has been slammed as pricy and also faced criticism over its formulas.

Not long after the launch, one user tweeted: "So I bought the SKKN by Kim refill of the moisturizer to be cheap lol and I totally didn’t realize that it wouldn’t come with a top. 

"Once you open that b***h, it’s open. You definitely have to find something to store it in."

Another purchaser wasn't fond of the presentation either, writing: "The packaging looks cheap… just like ur bleached blonde hair. More importantly- what makes ur skin products so special?

"Did a Dermatologist/ Scientist create the formulas? R they for women of all ages?"

A third buyer thought the product mirrored her ex-husband, Kanye West's creative vision, adding: "The whole brand aesthetic is yeezy, not to mention her price point is more than most luxury skincare."

According to the website, SKKN "was born out of Kim's dream to bridge the gap between the world's most renowned dermatological experts and people at home seeking high-quality skincare."

The "Complete Collection" of all nine products now sells for $575, down from the initial announced retail value of $673.

Due to the high prices, fans noticed a few details that they believed proved the line was a total flop.

One social media user pointed out that even though there was such high demand and excitement around it, none of the items sold-out after four hours.

"I wonder if she thought it was gonna sell out immediately," they wrote, adding a laughing emoji.

"Not with those prices," wrote one fan.

Another commented: "Kim have you seen gas prices lately?"

A short time later, Kim debuted a series of home products for SKKN.

The mom of four took to social media to show off the Tissue Box – one of several new items she was releasing at the time.

She explained: "Alright, I’m gonna show you guys how to put the tissue in the Tissue Box just in case no one knows because the box doesn’t fit inside."

Going through the motions, Kim revealed: "So you take the lid off, and then you open this, and you take the tissue out and just put it in, and put the lid right on with a little piece of tissue sticking in – and there you go."

While Kim intended for her video to be helpful, fans seemed to find it a waste of time.

Additionally, some users expressed other criticisms of the clip and the product itself.

"$89 for a tissue box, Kim?!?!" one user wrote. 

Another critic of the cost noted: "Kimberly, you know it’s a rip off."

"$90 I cannot," a third fan wrote.

Price wasn't the only problem some fans had with the product.

Some slammed the video as a whole.

"Yes mami teach us everything," one critic cracked.

Another wrote: "Wow honey that tutorial video was much needed I guess."

"Woooow we didn't know that," a third commenter wrote.

Someone else chimed in with: "I lost some brain cells watching this."

Some commenters seemed to think the tissue box was a safety hazard. 

"So you basically contaminate all the tissues and put them in a different container, got it," one user wrote.
