Strictly 2021 has endured a tumultuous four weeks so far, as stars have come and gone from the series for a variety of reasons. Kai Widdrington and his celebrity partner AJ Odudu have been busting their moves throughout the show, quickly racing ahead in the leaderboards with some high scores. Express.co.uk has all the information on the BBC star.

How old is Kai Widdrington?

So far Strictly 2021 has been a less than smooth journey, with a number of early celebrity exits.

First, Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden had to leave the show after a positive COVID-19 test result, though thankfully they returned safely in week three.

Then Robert Webb announced he was leaving the competition following health complications due to an ongoing heart condition.

Dance partner Dianne Buswell was taken out of the competition as a result as well, but both stars will still be supporting the remaining line-up from the sidelines.

Then on Thursday, October 14, rugby star Ugo Monye announced a back injury meant he’d have to miss out on a week.

With the first two vote-offs already taking place, there are just 12 celebrities left in the competition.

AJ Odudu is one of them, joined by her dance partner Kai Widdrington.

Widdrington is 26 years old and is currently strutting, alongside Odudu, into first place in the competition.

The pair pulled ahead early in the show, scoring top of the leaderboards in week one with an impressive 34 point score.

Week two didn’t see them take first place, but they were still close in third with 31 points.

The competition certainly heated up in the third week, with more couples raking in the high numbers.

This brought Widdrington and Odudu into fourth place, but still had an excellent score of 31 points.

While tonight’s show could knock them out of the top spot, the two are currently enjoying an overall lead of 65 points.

It hasn’t just been the competition that has been heating up though, as there have been rumours of a budding romance between the pair.

During last Saturday’s show, October 9, the duo performed I Have Nothing from The Bodyguard as part of Movie Week.

However, it wasn’t until after the show when rumours started to circulate, with a clip being shared on Strictly’s social media channel raising fans eyebrows.

The clip contained audio the microphone picked up during the dances, with Widdrington heard saying to Odudu: “I love you, I love you so much.”

On Wednesday, October 13, during It Takes Two, the pair were quizzed on the comments, with Widdrington clarifying the situation.

Widdrington said: “I think that was all down to just the tough, tough week that we had.

“The fact that we got to the end of the performance and it was flawless and you smashed it and you did all the lifts brilliant, did all the technique perfect.

“We were both just relieved, you were just gripping onto my neck.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
