Strictly Come Dancing has been hailed by many TV watchers as “saving 2020” after bringing some much-needed sparkle back into Saturday nights. But, this weekend will see one couple have to walk away from the BBC spectacle for good as tomorrow night will see the first elimination of the series take place. Now, Jacqui Smith has been the latest contestant to be dealt a crushing blow as she remains the most likely to be voted off the competition after the latest odds have put her at 4/7 odds to be sent home.

Last weekend, the 12 pairs performed their first routines on the famous Strictly dance floor.

There were mixed outcomes for the celebrities as some were dealt with unexpected successes.

However, there are already a few couples in danger of finding themselves in the dreaded dance-off tomorrow night.

But it seems former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith is looking the most likely to eliminated this weekend.

According to latest odds from bookmakers Ladbrokes, Jacqui is the favourite to wave goodbye to her chances of winning the Glitterball Trophy.

Jacqui is currently at 4/7 odds to be sent home after the first dance-off this weekend.

The former politician found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard last weekend after she failed to impress with her Foxtrot.

She was awarded just three points by Craig Revel Horwood but will be hoping she will be able to pull it back this weekend.

However, after the particularly high standard of dancing in week one, it may well be Jacqui who is sent home if she fails to improve.

Ladbrokes are also predicting there could be a perfect score dished out by one of the judges after some impressive routines in week one.

The bookmakers now make it a 10/1 shot for any celebrity to be a recipient of a 10 points paddle in tonight’s live show.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “The judges weren’t afraid to go high with their scores in week one, so we can’t rule out a 10 on Saturday night.”

She added: “Needless to say, it’s highly unlikely Jacqui will receive one as the odds-on favourite to leave this weekend.”

At the other end of the leaderboard, it’s HRVY and Maisie Smith who remain the most likely contenders for the title.

Last weekend, HRVY saw himself bag nine points from judge Motsi Mabuse after his impressive Jive.

Elsewhere, Maisie scored 24 points for her sizzling Samba which she performed alongside partner Gorka Marquez.

But who will find themselves at the top of the leaderboard after having danced their second routine of the competition this evening?

Professional dancer Alijaz Skorjanec gave his own verdict earlier this week on who he thinks could emerge as the winners of series eighteen.

Speaking on Morning Live, host Gethin Jones asked him: “You’ve been very successful on Strictly, you’ve won it with Abbey Clancy – the wife hasn’t [won] yet?”

And speaking of his partner Janette Manrara – who is partnered with HRVY – Alijaz replied: “Oh she will, she will, she will!”

“She might this year,” added Gethin. “Janette and HRVY, what do you reckon? Does she have a chance this year?”

Alijaz backed the pair to go far in the competition, adding: “Yeah! I’m so happy we get to do it [Strictly] this year, Gethin!”

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7:15pm on BBC One.
