Hollyoaks stars Chelsee Healey and Kelle Bryan discuss racism and childhood

Hollyoaks stars Chelsee Healey and Kelle Bryan will be having an important talk as part of Black Lives Matter where they will be tackling the topic of how to broach the topic of racism with their children.

The actors, who play Goldie McQueen and Martine Deveraux in the show will join the ongoing #Don’tFilterFeelings podcast for an episode launching very soon.

The discussion will be hosted by Brenda Edwards amid Black History Month and will touch upon how the three women have experienced talking about racism with their children as well as how it impacted on them growing up, including in the roles they were cast in as children.

A Hollyoaks spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘In the next episode of the #DontFilterFeelings podcast Brenda Edwards is joined by Kelle Bryan and Chelsee Healey to discuss talking to your child about racism.

‘Make sure you keep an eye out for the podcast dropping very soon…’

Chelsee Healey previously shared her agony after she was sent vile racist abuse about her young daughter Coco in a private message.

The former Waterloo Road and Casualty actress shared a screenshot of the horrific message on Twitter and one of her followers said she was sorry that her children have to grow up in such a ‘disgusting’ digital world.

Chelsee went on to say that she often gets racist abuse sent to her about herself but added than when her daughter is the target, it really hurts. The disgusting message – which referred to Coco as a ‘black monkey’ – was sent to Chelsee after she shared posts about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Sharing the troll’s nasty message, Chelsey wrote: ‘You know what, I get nasty messages all day mostly about me!

‘I’m a big girl, I can handle that, but saying something so disgusting about my beautiful, innocent baby upsets me especially when there’s nothing you can do to protect them from people’s vile words.’
