Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards and wife Lydia announce pregnancy

Hollyoaks star Jeremy Edwards has revealed that his wife Lydia is pregnant.

The actor, best known for portraying Kurt Benson in the Channel 4 soap, is ‘delighted.’

‘We’re incredibly excited but the main feeling has been relief,’ he told OK! Magazine.

Jeremy and wife Lydia had first daughter Scarlett, 3, through IVF, and turned to the treatment again.

‘Scarlett was conceived through IVF and so was this baby. We feel very blessed, as the process is actually really tough on Lyds.’

Jeremy explained that treatment got delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘We ended up getting a window of opportunity as soon as lockdown ended in June when the clinic rang and told us they had a free spot.’

‘There are no guarantees with IVF. Poor Lyds injects all these hormones into her body and goes on this invasive journey.

‘But there are no guarantees – and that is a hard thing to go through. Dare I say it, the pregnancy is almost easier, as there is so much leading up to it. Everything with Covid did make things harder, too.

‘I had a little weep,’ the actor revealed, discussing the moment he found out Lydia was pregnant. ‘It was such a relief. For most people the pregnancy is the big thing, but for us it’s that lead-up. The lead-up is 100 times worse.’

Jeremy returned to Hollyoaks for the soap’s 25th anniversary.

His character Kurt was believed to be dead, but upon his return, Kurt revealed that he’d faked his own death.

He decided to leave the village in recent scenes, after scamming several villagers out of their money.
