Harry Styles fans in meltdown after Best Kiss snub

The BRIT Awards: Harry Styles thanks One Direction in speech

Viewers were left in a rage after One Direction star Harry Styles was snubbed for Best Kiss at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Styles was nominated alongside his co-star David Dawson, but the Golden Popcorn trophy was snatched by Outer Banks couple Madison Bailey and Rudy Pankow.

Several fans quickly took to Twitter to complain about the controversial result.

@tpwk4eva112302 fumed in several tweets: “Harry and David were robbed of best kiss!

Harry and David were robbed of best kiss!”

@Sunflouerry28 wrote: “The audacity of MTV to play [Music For A Sushi Restaurant] at the beginning AND at the end… when they robbed Harry.

“Literally just using him, like everyone else does. F you, MTV. Not with kindness.”

Replying to MTV’s official account for the awards, @purpleharrykiwi said: “Harry and David should have won… We were robbed.”

@Harrys4thNip1D said: “Why are you LYING @MTVAwards?

“You know damn well that Patrick and Tom had the best kiss. THE TENSION? THE EMOTIONS? THE PASSION????”

And @hello__caroline tweeted: “Hey MTV we have some beef, Harry and David were SNUBBED and you know it.”

Although plenty of Outer Banks fans were thrilled with the result, as @NinjaKohler replied: “Yesss thank god.”

In My Policeman, Styles portrays Brighton cop Tom Burgess who starts a same-sex affair with a museum curator in the 1950s, when homosexuality was still illegal in Britain.

The singer was also denied MTV awards for his other breakout film performance of the last year.

His tap-dancing moment in Don’t Worry Darling lost out to Purple Hearts for Best Musical Moment, and his performance as Jack Chambers didn’t scare up enough votes for Best Villain.

Other awards on the night also included Jenna Ortega snatching Best Performance in a Show and her other star vehicle Scream VI grabbing Best Movie.

The ceremony was severely impacted by the ongoing WGA writers’ strike, beginning with host Drew Barrymore pulling out earlier in the week.

Instead, MTV aired a pre-taped show including historic clips of previous ceremonies and recorded speeches from some of the winners.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are available to stream on MTV and Paramount+ in the USA.
