On Tuesday morning of the ITV breakfast show, viewers saw the return of presenter Richard Madeley. The 66-year-old hasn’t been seen on Good Morning Britain since mid-August after he took a break from the show. However, his comeback hasn’t gone down well with all viewers.

The last time viewers saw Richard on Good Morning Britain was on August 11 when he was hosting alongside Charlotte Hawkins in the height of summer.

Although he didn’t share the reason behind his break from the ITV show, he told people at the time he wouldn’t be on for a while.

Exactly two months later he has now made a return as he took his place next to veteran host Susanna Reid on Tuesday morning.

However, seeing Richard back on their TV screens didn’t go down well with fans with many switching channels as a result.

It wasn’t long before viewers took to social media to share their frustrations with many questioning bosses on why they’d bring him back.

Loz Argyle blasted: “Oh no Richard Madeley is back @GMB wtf? I mean why are they giving airtime to this relic? That’s me finished with #GMB again whenever that creep is fronting it, for God’s sake bring back either Ed Balls/Martin Lewis permanently and get rid of Madeley…”

Tilulabell57 commented: “Back to BBC breakfast it is as long as Madeleyis presenting! Why can’t Rob Rinder be the new permanent host instead?”

As Dave Wragg swiped: “Me Me Madeley no thanks.”

Although Jean was pleased with his return commenting: “Yeah, great to see Richard back”

Richard’s return to the show came with the news that his daughter, Chloe, gave birth to a baby girl in August.

Sharing the story with Susanna and viewers at home, the GMB presenter confessed that she had gone into labour when he was hosting his last show in August.

He said: “I couldn’t tell you anything at the time because my daughter didn’t want me to tell you anything but she was in labour.

“She was having her baby and her baby was actually born at about 20 to nine while we were in the commercial break!”

Laughing the presenter joked it was handy that his daughter was giving birth while they were on air.

He added: “Our house in London is now baby central because Chloe, her husband and the baby are now living with us because their house is being done up.

“They’ve been living with us for about three months now, I love it.”
