Debbie Dingle (played by Charley Webb) was last seen in Emmerdale for a brief stint earlier this year but the actress has reportedly decided she won’t be returning in the future. The news comes after her husband and co-star Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe, was caught up in race row on set.

A source revealed: “Charley is closing the door on Emmerdale for good and won’t be going back.

“After she gave birth to her third child with Matthew in 2019 she returned briefly before taking some time out again.

“The past few months have given her time to think about the future and it is one that doesn’t involve Emmerdale.

“Matthew being caught up in the row on set fuelled her decision to step away.”

“Charley has been on Emmerdale for 19 years and her character Debbie has had a rollercoaster ride. It’s time for a new adventure for Charley,” the source told The Sun.

“Naturally the door is open for her character, who is now living in Scotland, should she change her mind. But for now she is looking to the future.”

Express.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment on the reports.

Charley’s husband Matthew and co-star Isobel Hodgins who play on-screen could David and Victoria Sugden have not been seen on the soap since October 28.

The actors have reportedly been missing from Emmerdale following an on-set row with fellow cast members.

Matthew and Isobel paused filming scenes while bosses made enquiries into the incident.

The co-stars will likely not return to screens until 2022 but a spokesperson confirmed neither actor had been suspended.

They said: “While we would never comment on individual cases, Emmerdale has robust policies in place to deal with any allegations that are brought to our attention and take the appropriate steps.

“Neither actor has been suspended from Emmerdale.”

Both Matthew and Isobel denied allegations of wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, back in July, Matthew said the coronavirus pandemic was part of the reason his wife had yet to return to the soap full time.

He said: “To be honest filming there at the moment with Covid regulations is tough.

“For her to go back now when all this is still happening is not what she wants to do.

“I think she’ll wait until all the restrictions have dropped.”

Debbie returned to the Dales earlier this year for a brief stint as it was revealed she was Al Chapman’s (Michael Wildman) mystery woman.

After realising they were dating the same man, she and Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) joined forces to get revenge on their cheating lover.

Emmerdale airs on ITV on weekdays at 7pm.
