The returning entrepreneur is talked into uplifting the area as part of a regeneration project. However, will his plan go as smoothly as he hopes?

David has been away helping Alicia (Natalie Anderson), who is in Portugal but has suffered an accident while abroad.

He returns to a village destroyed by the monumental storm which has shaken Emmerdale farm to its core.

David continues to worry about his business setback, compounded with his previous worries after dealing with the effects of the pandemic too.

He has struggled recently with debt connected to the shop and earlier in the year and was bailed out by his dad Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell).

There may be brighter times ahead for David with Bernice’s help and inspirational words.

But it will take a lot for him and his neighbours to recover from the traumatic event.

Fans of the soap have been treated to some of the most dramatic scenes in the show’s history.

So far, there have been two casualties of the storm, with Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) dying after falling off her quad bike.

She was looking for a missing Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) in the woods but fatally fell and died, despite Kim Tate’s (Claire King) best efforts.

On her departure Katherine told Digital Spy: “I got very emotional reading it. On the actual day I was covered in blood and I had various bits of woodland hanging out of my hair.”

“We had these industrial wind machines which were literally blowing sand and debris into your eyes.

She continued: “So when it came to it, it wasn’t as emotional because the technicality of what you have to do takes away from the emotion so I managed to get through the day without sobbing,” she told Digital Spy.

Fans were also stunned to see Emmerdale favourite Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steel) succumb to the extreme weather.

On the shocking 19 October episode, she was crushed by a caravan as she attempted to reach the pub to protect Paddy Kirk’s (Dominic Brunt) daughter.

Elsewhere in the village, Sam Dingle (James Hooton) was horrifically impaled on a spike.

In gruesome scenes, he chased some cows who’d escaped the farm but fell on the farming machinery.

Fans were left on a cliffhanger at the end of the episode to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show.

However, they were relieved to see the loveable character survive the injuries in hospital.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights on ITV at 7.30pm.
