Charity (played by Emma Atkins) has reverted back to her old ways of scheming and crime, having forged a partnership and relationship with crook Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) on Emmerdale. The pair have made it no secret they have been enjoying some passion in the bedroom, something the mother of four’s children would care not to know about. However, as the weeks pass by on the ITV soap, the beloved character could start to feel extremely unwell – is she actually be pregnant with the couple not being as careful as they’d thought?
As the latest episode of the weeknight serial drama got underway, Charity and Mackenzie were spending some time with the former’s son, Noah Tate (Jack Downham).
Mackenzie was trying to act like the cool stepfather as he noticed his stepson was distracted by some messages from a girl on his phone.
With the teenager getting uncomfortable with the topic of conversation, he made a sharp exit from the café and Charity’s lover offered her some parental advice.
This didn’t go down well as she told him: “I might not be the most perfect mum going but I love my boys, Mackenzie.”
He jumped in to say she also had a daughter, with the mother of four stating she knew Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) was her child but she didn’t mention her because she isn’t currently living in the village.
Explaining why she was so worried about Noah, Charity said it was because he’d “never had a proper girlfriend before” with Mackenzie reminding her everyone makes mistakes.
He said he wanted to go and talk to Noah about some things, with the mother of four stating she hoped her son and granddaughter, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) would give them a chance as a couple.
With Charity ins despair, her partner went off to find Noah and witnessed the teenager hanging around with Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland).
Wanting to strike up a bond with the youngster, the troublemaker offered him some condoms so when the youngsters had sex, they would be protected.
However, when asked if he carries them around with him all the time, Mackenzie said it wasn’t always necessary to need one.
This could be a huge hint he and Charity are now having unprotected sex as they are in a relationship together and this could lead to a pregnancy.
Having only just made things official, a baby would be the last thing the couple would need but it could also bring them closer together.
It would also stop any doubts Charity had about her family not giving the couple a chance as a child would make it evident they were in it for the long run.
The pair could see this as a blessing in disguise and although Charity thought she would never have children again, she might be happy Mackenzie is giving her a child.
By the end of Tuesday’s hour-long episode, the mother of four had discovered what her son and lover had been up to.
I’m a part of this family
She was furious with Mackenzie, but he explained to her he was just trying to be the best stepfather he could be.
“Noah opened up to me, I wanted to be someone he could turn to,” the troublemaker said, adding: “And to be honest, part of that reason was because of you, Charity.
“I thought you wanted me to get your kids to like me,” he continued, with the mother of four stating she didn’t like him very much in that moment.
However, Charity hit him with a very blunt and honest truth as she reminded him they weren’t in a proper relationship.
“Hang about. I’m a part of this family even though you make out I’m not,” Mackenzie hit back but Charity wasn’t having any of it.
Before walking away, Charity told her lover they were over but will the discovery of pregnancy make her think twice?
Will she realise she actually wants a child with Mackenzie and wants him to be a part of the family no matter how hard she tries to mess it up?
The baby would be due around the middle of next year, which would mark almost two years since Mackenzie arrived in the village.
It could be scriptwriters want him to become a father to the child of one of the soap’s most beloved characters so he can set down roots.
Neither of them would be leaving anytime soon if they were committed to becoming parents together.
But this doesn’t mean Mackenzie is the love of Charity’s life as there is still some unresolved issues between her and her former lover, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick),
Discussing the women’s relationship, the actress who plays Charity, Emma, said: “Charity and Vanessa are very real and their relationship is packed full of differences.
“They are polar opposites and yet somehow it works. That is an exciting combination. When people are attracted to their opposites, it means there’s always going to be a good contrast.
“Good fiery arguments – and good passionate making up to do,” she said in an interview with Digital Spy.
However, will a baby and Mackenzie’s baby at that put a stop to the women being reunited again?
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode airing on Thursdays at 8pm.
