Emmerdale Paul’s sick kidnapping scheme ‘worked out’ by fans in Liv twist

Emmerdale fans are suspicious about Paul Ashdale's recent kidnapping, convinced he arranged everything himself in a twisted ruse.

On Tuesday evening, Mandy Dingle, played by Lisa Riley, was scrambling to make up his ransom money, begging the neighbours for £4,000 in the hopes of saving Paul (Reece Dinsdale).

Vinnie Dingle (Bradley Johnson) was desperate when he heard what happened, railing at his mum and vowing to do everything in his power to save Paul.

However, certain Emmerdale fans feel the kidnapping was a set-up, with Paul hoping to steal young Liv Flaherty's money to help pay off his debts.

Liv (Isobel Steele) recently revealed she's a property owner, leaving Paul – who suffers from a gambling addiction – looking intrigued.

Taking to Twitter, viewers were convinced they'd figured out Paul's plans, predicting the gambler had conceived the twisted kidnapping himself.

One said: "I reckon Paul has staged his own kidnapping and hoping Liv and Vinnie will pay his debts for him!"

"Wait till they find out paul has set it all up," wrote a second.

And a third chimed: "It's obvious that Paul has come up with this idea, or is at least in on it."

If the fan theory is correct, then Liv played right into Paul's trap on Tuesday evening, as Vinnie begged her to loan some money to the cause.

Things reached a critical point when Mandy received a picture of Paul, bound with a gag in his mouth in a bid to highlight the seriousness of the kidnapping.

His voice breaking as he pleaded, Vinnie asked Liv: "Can you please just lend us it!"

Liv tried to say no, insisting she didn't have access to such a large sum of money, and adding: "Everything I have is tied up in flats."

However, later, she returned home and asked her older brother Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) for help, with the pair rustling up £700 between them.

If Paul gets his hands on their hard-earned cash, will they ever see it again?

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7pm, with an extra helping on Thursdays at 8pm.
