EastEnders' Shane Richie latest star to 'join I'm A Celebrity line-up'

EastEnders star Shane Richie is the latest star to be reportedly signed up for I’m A Celebrity 2020.

The actor and performer is known best as Alfie Moon in the long-running BBC soap, but is now set to trade in The Queen Vic for a castle in Wales.

He is now allegedly heading into a two-week isolation period, as per Covid guidelines, before entering Castle Gwrych.

‘ITV have always wanted Shane for the jungle but with panto not happening this year and other work opportunities less likely, he decided this was the time to take the plunge,’ a source told The Sun.

‘Going to North Wales is less of a huge commitment than flying halfway across the world, too, so he jumped at the chance.’

The line-up is now currently taking shape, though I’m A Celebrity themselves are yet to make any official announcements.

Sir Mo Farah was revealed yesterday to be taking part, with BBC presenter Victoria Derbyshire, Strictly’ AJ Pritchard and Vernon Kay also among those who have been snapped up by the ITV show.

West End star Ruthie Henshall, and opera singer Russell Watson are also connected to the series line-up.

The series is getting a revamp this year after they were forced to relocate from New South Wales, Australia due to coronavirus restrictions.

Gwrych Castle – which comes complete with ghost horses and feisty poltergeist tenants, apparently – is based in North Wales, England.

The rural castle is hoping that the series will help stem tourism, as it’s in need for £50,000 worth of restorations.

I’m A Celebrity returns in November on ITV.
