Escape to the Chateau: Dick buys a wood turning lathe
Dick Strawbridge and his wife Angel Adoree have transformed a dilapidated chateau in France into a stunning family home, which also doubles up as the venue for their events business. The pair have bee gracing television screens on Sunday evenings for the past couple of months as they update fans on the latest developments to the property, and there’s still plenty left to do.
Speaking ahead of the latest series, Dick revealed “we have more work to do” as he and Angel continue to renovate the 45-room Chateau.
Angel remarked on Lorraine: “We fell in love with it on day one and I don’t think we have ever stopped that same love.
“Every time we drive around the corner we still can’t believe it.
“The work is continuous, you always, we move the goal posts a little bit.”

“It’s very comfortable but we have a lot more projects to do,” Dick added.
“This is our life, this is where we are. The idea of moving, we can’t even think about it.
“This is where we want to be forever, consequently, we are still evolving things.”
Dick continued: “We have more work to do and we are having a ball as a family.
“That is what we are here to do, enjoy life!”
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Dick and Angel have been unable to host weddings and events at the Chateau.
As a result, they have been focussing on improving their home and transforming the outbuildings they also own.
In a recent episode they renovated a wash house into a luxury bathroom with a swimming pool and transformed their pepper pot tower into a library.

Dick Strawbridge children: How many children does Dick have? [INSIGHT]
While the current series of Escape to the Chateau may have come to an end with Dick and Angel celebrating their five-year wedding anniversary, fans will still be able to see the family celebrate Christmas with a special instalment.
The family will transform the Chateau into a Winter Wonderland and even add an ice rink for children Arthur and Dorothy to enjoy.
The family have come a long way since they moved into their home in 2015 when they didn’t even have any electricity.
Dick admitted they were “like fish out of water” when they first moved in: “It’s a dream to live in a castle.”
“That is very different from people who were raised in one. We have to work to pay for it. We need every generation to keep it alive,” he told MailOnline.
Dick and Angel purchased their home from the Baglioni family, who previously lived in the Chateau, and are now neighbours.
“As a wedding present, they mowed the lawn with their tractors and helped lay the gravel. They’ve always been there for us,” Angel explained.
Escape to the Chateau is available to catch up on Channel 4 OD.
