Florence Cassell (played by Josephine Jobert) will return to Saint Marie when Death in Paradise returns in January 2021. The detective left the island after her fiancé was tragically killed but will lean on Neville Parker (Ralf Little) for support when she resumes her role in the police force. Will love blossom between the pair?
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Josephine revealed her friendship with Neville will help Florence move on.
Josephine began: “I mean as an officer, it hasn’t really changed her, maybe as a person.
“She’s still really into her job and she’s doing a good job and she enjoys it.
“But I think as a person it changed her. If I had lost my fiancé I would have been a different person.”

The actress explained: “She’s still struggling because when you lose someone that you love so much, do you ever recover?
“I don’t think so but the fact that she meets Neville, who is very, very special in his way.
“And I think she wants to take care of him because she sees the potential.
“Maybe it’s a way for her to think of something else and to get closer to somebody else.
“And I think their relationship will help her to heal and to move on.”

Discussing her return, Josephine said: “I was very excited to see her again, to meet her again.
“First of all, I love her. I think she could be a good friend in real life.
“She’s gone through a lot, she lost her fiancé and I really loved playing those scenes, even though they were very very sad because we could see another face of her.
“And I was really interested in how she would come back.”
“How is she going to feel? What is she going to do? Is she going to be okay?
“I was a little worried about her honestly but she’s a strong woman.”
Discussing Neville’s new life on the island, Ralf teased a blossoming friendship between the detective and Florence.
“It’s a physical challenge for him, it’s a mental challenge for him and he’s helped out by his job and he’s helped out in no small measure by Florence Cassell who becomes a great friend and confidant and ally and he thinks very highly of her,” he said.
