I’m A Celeb Preview: Fatima helps Carol in a watery trial

Carol Vorderman has to take on a Bushtucker Trial which is not for the fainthearted on Tuesday’s instalment of I’m A Celebrity South Africa.

In Tuesday’s episode, campmate Myleene Klass has to read out the latest Bush Bulletin which confirms the next Bushtucker Trial is called Tanks of Torment.

She reveals the campmate taking part in the challenge is Carol who seems excited about the trial at first.

The former Countdown star has to select which campmate she wants to assist her and she chooses Fatima Whitbread.

Fatima says in the Bush Telegraph: “My name came out of Carol’s mouth within seconds!”

When they meet hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly ahead of the trial, Fatima jokes about her pairing: “Here we have the brains and the brawn. It’s going to be a good combination.”

Ant explains Carol has to swim through four sections of a water tank, collecting stars as she goes.

Dec adds: “You will only be able to move through the sections once Fatima has raised the doors that separate them.”

Carol, 62, has just 10 minutes to collect 10 stars for the camp – but will she succeed?

Carol admits: “My bottom always floats to the top… It’s the most buoyant thing in Britain. So getting down underwater is my biggest problem.”

She’s joined by crocodiles, snakes and various critters in the tank and Carol starts panicking, telling Ant and Dec: “I’m not sure I want to do it.”

However, Carol decides to give the trial a go but she starts to panic again when she needs air.

As she gasps for air she says, “Oh God” and starts coughing while Dec is shocked at how long she was holding her breath for.

As Carol prepares to go back underwater, Fatima reminds her: “Take your time, don’t panic.”

Will she continue the task or will it all get too difficult and be a washout?

Carol took on a challenge last Monday where she had to abseil down a cliff face, but she showed no signs of fear and aced the task.

I’m A Celebrity South Africa airs tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
