Alison Hammond speaks out to issue apology after surprise This Morning absence08/31/2021
This Morning’s presenter Alison Hammond has revealed the real reason she has been absent from the hit ITV morning show.
The 46-year-old was supposed to be presenting the daytime show this week, but due to an unexpected illness the larger-than-life star had to pull out at the last minute.
Luckily the Irish silver fox Eamonn Holmes was available to fill her slot and viewers have been over the moon to see a familiar face on their screens again, even if it’s only for a week.
Eamon and Rochelle Humes opened the show on the Bank Holiday Monday by sending their best wishes to Alison and told her to get well soon as she rested up at her London home.
But later on that Monday afternoon, Alison took to Instagram to explain the real reason behind her absence from the hit ITV show.
The brunette beauty shared a video by @philmannis of a cardboard cutout of herself being carried around the centre of Manchester as partiers danced the weekend away in celebration of Pride weekend.
She captioned the post: “I’m so sorry I was away from @thismorning today I had a mad crazy day at Manchester Pride.
“I’m now recovering from being passed out by all my mates,” she joked to her 938,000 followers online.
And fans soon flooded her feed with comments on her hilarious afternoon post with many at the Pride weekend themselves.
One user wrote: “We loved having you queen,” while another reiterated: “Was so lovely to have you there with us yesterday.”
A third added: “I was almost in this video! It was the funniest thing ever!!” as another joked: “Omg don’t, I was dying at this.”
Fans of This Morning were pleasantly surprised to see the 61-year-old return to our screens after he announced his seven-week stint presenting the show with his wife Ruth Langsford had come to an end on Friday.
But he father-of-four has was more than happy to step in for the missing presenters for an extra week and join Rochelle Humes on the sofa.
I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! finalist Vernon Kay was also due to present the show with Rochelle Humes on Tuesday, but he also fell ill after he tested positive with Covid-19.
The father-of-two told The Sun: “I’m absolutely gutted that because of a positive Covid test I’m no longer able to present on This Morning next week with Rochelle nor do Radio 2 guest hosting and Steve Wright’s cover, two iconic shows which I’ve been a fan of for decades.”
