A Place In The Sun couple undergo incredible 12st weight loss transformation after being shocked by size on show

A PLACE In The Sun contestants gained a holiday home yet shed the pounds as they left viewers gobsmacked by their post-property transformation.

Barnsley-based Lisa and Paul Sanderson lost a combined 12 stone after seeing themselves on the Channel 4 show and admitting they were "shocked."

Their A Place In The Sun episode aired three months after being filmed, and documented their search for a sun-soaked escape in the Costa Blanca.

Mum of three Lisa, 49, and Paul, 47, secured a dream three-bed bungalow in Torrevieja, costing £72,500, and were hugely emotional after sealing the deal, seeking comfort from host Jasmine Harman.

Yet when they touched down on home turf and re-played their episode they decided on a major life change.

Paul told the Daily Star: “We watched ourselves on TV and were shocked.

"We said some of the timber needed to go, and we weren’t talking about the house we’d just bought."

Meanwhile Lisa, who suffered breast cancer shortly before filming, added: "I knew I had struggled with my weight since the chemotherapy, but seeing us both looking like that on screen made me know we had to do something.

"We both looked at each other and said, ‘Oh my word, something has to change here’."

The publication reports Lisa, who was 17.2st is now 10st, and Paul went from 16.5st to 12st.

They achieved the mammoth weight loss feat by signing up to Weight Watchers as well as exercising together.

Lisa admitted their appearance on the property hunting episode had been the "wake up call" they needed.

A spokesman for A Place In The Sun said: "Lisa and Paul are a lovely couple and we are so happy their lives have been transformed by the past 12 months."

While starring in the episode, the couple had warmed hearts with the candid reason for their property hunt.

Presenter Jasmine asked: "What does it mean to you to be able to do this?"

To which Lisa replied: "It's about making adventures and memories and valuing life to what it should be – that's it, that's what we intend to do."

She added: "It's everything we have been dreaming about, when I was having my treatment we didn't think we would get to it."

Yet in a previous episode, a different couple were seen baring the brunt of host Jasmine's rage as she squealed "Are you serious?" when they refused a plush Spanish villa.

A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
