Stay Gold, Army — Which Members of 'The Outsiders' Would the BTS Members Be?08/09/2020
They’re not making another version of The Outsiders, but BTS fans hope so. In the wake of the K-pop group’s single, “Stay Gold,” some decided to cast these K-pop performers as the Greasers in this movie. Here are which characters the BTS members would be if they were in The Outsiders.
Ponyboy Curtis is Jimin
The main character of The Outsiders, Ponyboy, is a little bit of all the Greasers. He’s kind like Sodapop, he’s smart like Johnny, he’s impulsive like Dally. He’s also often looking for the best in people, even the rich kids who threatened him and Johnny. That’s totally Jimin, who’s always looking out for the other BTS members.
J-Hope is Sodapop Curtis
Probably the kindest member of the Greasers, Sodapop is constantly acting as the mediator between his two brothers, Ponyboy and Darry. He has a huge heart and is always looking to help others, which is totally like the “Hope” of BTS fans, J-Hope. Sodapop is also very hardworking, with a job at a garage, which is similar to J-Hope who often works on his solo music.
Jin is Steve Randle
Although this character isn’t in the book (or the movie) that much, his relationship with the other Greasers is what makes him so much like Jin from BTS. Steve is very close friends with Sodapop Curtis, as the two of them work together at a garage. Jin is close to each of the K-pop idols individually, especially the leader RM and J-Hope.
RM is Darrel ‘Darry’ Curtis
Darry is a hint serious, but that’s only because he has so much on his plate. He has to look after his two younger brothers, in addition to working and proving that he’s fit enough to take care of his family. RM looks after the BTS members, in the same way, acting as a leader of the K-pop group. Darry is definitely one of the leaders of the Greaser, especially during the “rumble.”
Suga is Dallas ‘Dally’ Winston
They both have a little bit of darkness inside of them and, both kind of giving off that “Bad Boy” persona. Underneath his craziness, though, Dally really cares about the other Greasers and even goes after Johnny during the fire. The way Suga cares for the other members and is passionate about music totally translates through Dallas Winston.
Jungkook is Johnny Cade
As the youngest member of the BTS boys, the resemblances between Johnny and Jungkook are endless. Jungkook is always willing to give 110% to fans and his fellow boy band members. Johnny is the same way, even giving his life to save a few schoolkids in a fire. He offers a lot of support to Ponyboy and is smart, kind, and warm, just like BTS’ Golden Maknae.
V is obviously Two-Bit
The most obvious connection is between the… unique Two-Bit and the loveable V. Two-Bit is basically family to Sodapop, Ponyboy, and Darry, even plopping down in front of the TV to watch cartoons one morning at their house. He knows when to be serious, though, which is completely V and his personality both on and off the stage.
