Aside from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin are the most successful band of all time. As the Fab Four broke up after dominating the 1960s, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham formed their band and ruled the 1970s. But the group’s singer himself believes there’s been even more for him to do musically ever since.

Speaking with The Telegraph, Plant said of his time in Led Zeppelin: “It was just dumbf***, a lot of it.

“It would be trite to say the actions fit the circumstances there on the spot at that time.

“We made great music. We had a great time. And then it stopped. That’s all I know about it.”

Looking back to fronting local blues bands from the age of 16 he relished finding an outlet for expression that British kids needed.
