Phillip Schofields This Morning makeup blunder saw him looking like ‘wardrobe

Phillip Schofield has recalled a hilarious This Morning makeup blunder that left him looking like a “mahogany wardrobe”.

Speaking the Daily Star at the National Television Awards, he said: “Can I just say my best friend [Holly] was quite incredible, and we sat in our makeup room every morning and it was just us – and on the first day I got text from my makeup artist saying you look like a mahogany wardrobe.”

Holly Willoughby chimed in to explain: “He mistook powder for bronzer.”

This Morning picked up the award for Best Daytime programme at the NTAs and Phil revealed that this year he would be getting “off his face” to celebrate.

Speaking in the winner’s room, Phil revealed: “For the first time ever we are now off for the first time ever until Monday, I am off my face as of five minutes.”

He continued: “Can I also just say, when the chips are down and you find yourself in a situation you’ve never been through before, you’re on the telly in a bizarre year…and you’re going through it with a mate, my best friend (Holly) was quite incredible.

Phillip compared working through Covid to going to war, as he shared: “If I’m honest we really bloody wanted this.

"I don’t know what it’s like to going through war, of course, but we have all been hands-on in a studio with no people, no crew, and all the people around us normally are gone.

“I think the mere fact we stayed on every day during this crazy time, suddenly thought this year is quite important. It’s been a s****y year, it’s been a s****y year.”

Holly added: “We just needed a bit of normality. When the wheels fell off of the world and everything looked different I think we just needed a normal morning.

"Selfishly had we not had This Morning, the whole thing would have been worse and people felt like we were in something together.”
