Meow Wolf Denver’s Perplexiplex inaugural concert with GRiZ, CloZee09/01/2021
Colorado-based electronic dance heroes GRiZ and CloZee will headline Meow Wolf Denver’s new concert venue during its opening weeks, the Santa Fe-based entertainment company announced today.
Meow Wolf Denver’s surreal, immersive-sculpture and art installation, dubbed Convergence Station, is slated to open Sept. 17. Tickets for the shows at its 488-capacity Perpelxiplex venue — with GRiZ performing on Saturday, Sept. 18, and CloZee on Saturday, Oct. 2 — are on sale to the public on Thursday, Sept. 2 at tickets.meowwolf.com/events/denver.
Tickets for each are $50 in advance and $55 the day of show.
Throughout the night of GRiZ’s performance, House of Flora’s Denver chapter (it’s a kiki, or ballroom drag house, based in Oregon) house mother Valentino Valentine will bring the vogue-vibes celebrating Denver’s Black and Latino trans and queer communities to Meow Wolf’s opening party. CloZee’s DJ set will feature support acts Chmura and Quark.
When it’s not hosting concerts, Perplexiplex acts as one of the attractions inside Convergence Station. It features an artfully weird stage that recalls the elaborate Cathedral sculpture in the building’s Ice World anchor-space. By day, it also will feature interactive projection art courtesy of Moment Factory, Meow Wolf officials said in a press statement.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to open up our Meow Wolf Denver venue with hometown heroes Griz and CloZee,” Noah Kessler, Meow Wolf events promoter, said in the statement of the Denver-based, internationally touring artists. “There is nothing quite like a shared experience of live music, and feeling connected to an artist, your friends, or hundreds of strangers.”
“I want the show to radiate positivity,” CloZee said. “The beautiful thing about Meow Wolf is you always know the type of experience you will have, but are always surprised by what you see. I hope to bring the same elements on the musical side.”
Meow Wolf’s original, Santa-Fe based venue, the House of Eternal Return, has hosted concerts from major indie artists such Animal Collective, Big Freedia, Claude Vonstroke, Chris Lake, Flying Lotus and STRFKR.
