Lisa Snowdon has opened up about her battle with early menopause, revealing that she almost missed out on her I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here stint because of it.
She did I’m A Celeb in November 2016, but was experiencing very painful and heavy periods, so much so that her GP had to put her on the contraceptive pill, she explained with in an interview with The Sun that had she not have been given the pill, she wouldn't have been able to do the show.
"I did I'm A Celeb in November 2016, I wouldn't have done it without the pill."
"I was wiped out, yet the menopause wasn't suggested as a cause. I assumed it was still years away."
A year later when she was 44, Lisa was about to head to Australia for her stint in the jungle, when she started to experience brain fog, fits of rage and anxiety.
She also noticed some weight gain and recalled that she put on around three stone.

Lisa explained that her mum went through the menopause in her forties, but at the time she wasn't aware of that.
In 2018, she went to the doctor for blood tests, "which was when I got the bombshell that I was perimenopausal".
When she was told about her diagnosis, she was relieved to have finally got answers, but recalled that it was hard to process.

She explained how when she found out, she realised that her partner, George, 43, 'probably wouldn’t be able to have a biological child now'.
Lisa's doctor put her on HRT with a progesterone cream that she applied to her inner arm, and after 18 months, things finally improved.
She noticed that her heavy periods had settled down, as did her anxiety. She also saw her energy levels came back a bit as well.
In 2020 she then started to experience insomnia and hot flushes, but was prescribed oestrogen last March.
