Former Britain's Got Talent finalist Andrew Johnston has appeared in court accused of raping to women.

The former choirboy, who came third place on the ITV show back in 2008, was charged on two accounts of rapes in 2020.

He allegedly raped one woman at an address in West London in November 2019.

Johnston, now 27, has also been charged with sexually assaulting her in March 2020, The Sun report.

He is also accused of raping another woman in a flat in South London between January and February 2020.

Johnston appeared before Westminster magistrates on Wednesday and was granted bail.

He did not enter a plea and will appear at Southwark crown court for a pre-trial hearing on September 7.

Since 2017, Johnston has been working as a roofer.

Now sporting a beard, Johnston is unrecognisable from the 13-year-old who made Amanda Holden cry during his rendition of Pie Jesu 13 years ago.

During his initial audition, Johnston claimed that he was bullied and victimised from the age of six because of his singing.

When asked how he dealt with the issue, he stated "I carry on singing."

He went on to record a top five album with music mogul Simon Cowell’s label Syco.

Johnston's singing career blossomed briefly after the ITV talent show but stalled when his voice broke.

He joined the National Youth Choir back in 2011 and studied a degree in opera studies but his voice was also affected by a broken nose.

In 2012, Carlisle newspaper News and Star reported that Johnston had become the youngest person in the world to be granted a licence to teach the sport.
