Corrie star Ryan Thomas quits acting after facing audition rejection

Ryan Thomas has revealed he's quit acting because he’s “really lost the bug” and following a string of unwanted "rejection".

The former Coronation Street star left the ITV legendary show in 2016 and is now a celebrity influencer.

And after 16 years on the famous cobbles, the 36-year-old recently ended up being a temporary delivery driver for his brother Adam’s fast-food restaurant.

Ryan has amassed 444.6k Twitter followers and 1.1million Instagram fans.

But speaking on the Mancs On The Mic show – on which he works on with Adam and their brother Scott – Ryan admitted: "It's so hard for me. I started off acting, I started off in that game and I really lost the bug for it.

"I feel the reason for losing the bug is rejection and going to auditions and not getting them."

The TV personality said he was happy with the new direction he was taking but didn't rule out returning to acting circles in the future.

He stressed: "I went over to do Neighbours and I just saw on social media that there were just quite negative comments towards me and my acting.

"I’ve never had that before because social media wasn’t around. I never got it in Corrie because I never had social media when I was in Corrie.

“If I did, it was at the end but I was so established there that people saw me as fixtures and fittings, so I never really got that sort of negative criticism.

"It happens in all aspects but I just found it really, really hard to deal with at first.

“I always think, ‘Oh, it’ll [the desire to act] come back at some point and maybe it will and it’s still something that I have in my locker if I want to explore it again.

“Right now I’m really happy with the direction I’m going."

Earlier this week Ryan revealed he had been helping deliver takeaways from Adam's Manchester-based restaurant The Spinn in his £286,000 Rolls Royce.

"I'm just waiting outside The Spinn to pick up my next delivery. Make the call, you know you want to," Ryan told his social-media followers.

"I might be coming to a home near you," the former Jason Grimshaw actor teased.

Away from his career, Ryan is love up with his fiancée, former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh.

The couple have been raising their new baby Roman together in lockdown.

Ryan also has a young daughter Scarlett with his ex and former Corrie actress Tina O'Brien.
