Britney Spears asks judge to end dad’s control over 13-year conservatorship03/25/2021
Britney Spears has asked a judge to put an end to her father's control over her controversial conservatorship.
Since 2008, Britney's dad Jamie Spears has been her legal conservator, meaning he has control of her finances as final say on a wide range of her personal life decisions.
Ever since being placed in a conservatorship, Britney's fans have been worried sick for her welfare and well-being.
In 2019, Jamie stepped down from controlling her personal life for health reasons and was instead replaced care professional Jodi Montgomery, who made decision on Britney's behalf when it came to her personal life.
Jamie, meanwhile, controlled all other aspects of Britney's life.
Though Jodi replaced her dad on a temporary basis, Britney now wants her to be made her conservator permanently, TMZ reports.
The Los Angeles court documents also show she wants to be able to completely end the controversial arrangement entirely if necessary.

"Petitioner expressly reserves the right to petition for termination of this conservatorship under Probate Code section 1861," the court doc reads.
"Nothing in the within petition shall be deemed to constitute a waiver of that right."
The petition has been filed to the judge, with the next hearing due to take place next month.
Last year, Britney filed an application to the courts to remove Jamie from the position.

However each of her appeals has been denied and Jamie remains as her co-conservator.
For years the Free Britney movement, which argues that she should be allowed to be in charge of her own life without legal constraint, was seen by many as over-eager fans putting two and two together and making six.
But now, the online campaign has taken on a life of its own with a string of celebs including Miley Cyrus, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow and US host Andy Cohen all backing the campaign.
