BBC’s Alex Scott wows fans in bikini-clad beach snaps after announcing new role

BBC star Alex Scott MBE has wowed fans with a series of throwback snaps wearing a cut-out bikini.

The former footballer turned television presenter, 36, logged into her Instagram account on Thursday to share a glimpse of her holiday style with several stunning photos.

She revealed that former X Factor champion Alexandra Burke had inspired her to share the bikini-clan post.

She captioned her smoking-hot Instagram grid update: "Saw your post @alexandraburke. Ran straight into the sea.., then this happened instead.

"Insta caption though… 'mental I'm here. Same same, lol…"

Unsurprisingly, Alex's recent social media appearance caught the attention of her 437,000 followers, with some rushing to leave a flirty message for the star in the comment section.

One fan penned:"Seriously beautiful."

Another added: "Looking great."

A third person posted: "Stunning! Keep smiling!"

While a fourth follower gushed: "Absolutely gorgeous."

Like the rest of us, clearly both Alexandra and Alex dreaming of their past summer holidays.

The new Football Focus host's snaps were taken in Jamaica, with the star looking glam in her cut-out bikini and aviator-style sunglasses.

It was confirmed earlier this month that former Strictly Come Dancing star Alex will be taking on the hosting role of the BBC football show, as the first female presenter to take the seat.

The BBC announced the exciting news on Saturday, with Alex taking to Twitter to confirm it with a video message to fans.

She said she was "excited and honoured" to be joining the show, adding: "It is not lost on me, one bit, because I know how iconic the show is and what big deal it is."

Alex went on to thank departing host Dan Walker, saying that she will be "forever grateful" to the BBC Breakfast presenter for the part he played in helping her land the role.

"I would like to take a moment to thank Dan Walker for yes, being an amazing host for all these years but for being the amazing human that you are, knowing that many years ago telling you that I wanted to be in a position such as this and you taking the time to help me develop, hone my skills, and get to this position," she said.

She signed off the video: "Thank you and I will see you all in August!"

Alex began her career playing football at the age of eight and played professionally for Arsenal, Birmingham City as well as US soccer team Boston Breakers before retiring from the sport in 2017.

She also represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympics.

Alex was a contestant on the seventeenth series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, paired with professional dancer Neil Jones.

The couple were eliminated in week 11, coming in fifth place.
