American Idol star Haley Smith, 26, dies in horror motorcycle crash


Haley Smith, who starred on American Idol, died on Saturday at the age of 26 following a motorcycle crash.

Her family have now spoken out to share that they believe it may have been a deer that led to the fatal blow.

According to TMZ, the crash occurred on a country road in Milinocket, Maine.

The publication reported that the star appeared to "fail to make a sharp turn" on the road's bend.

But speaking to TMZ, her father Mike Smith disagreed that his daughter would have lost control.

He described how his daughter was a "good rider" and "doubts" she lost control of her bike.

The heartbroken dad went on to add that he believes a deer may have "played a factor" in the crash.

Haley was pronounced dead on the scene.

The talented singer appeared on the reality show American Idol back in 2012 for its 11th season.

She was just 18 when she auditioned and said at the time how she loved the sixties and seventies eras of music.

In front of the judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez she sang a beautiful version of Tell Me Something Good by Chaka Khan.

She was voted off during the second Hollywood round.

TMZ reported how her family were preparing to celebrate her 27th birthday in November.
