Many people have already moved away from using plastic bags at the supermarket, but TikTok user @1980sgamer has a hack which requires no bags at all. According to the user, the hack with speed up your supermarket shopping experience and even benefit the environment.
He shared a video with his audience of 2.3M followers, in which he explained the method. The man said: “This grocery hack will make checkout faster and is better for the environment.
“The next time you go grocery shopping this hack will change your life. Just get all of your food like usual then begin the checkout process by throwing all your food up on the belt and then pay for your items.
“Now, you see all of these people wasting their time bagging their groceries? Yeah, skip that. Just head to your vehicle with all of your groceries lose in the cart. Now for this hack to work you’re going to need two laundry baskets.”
In the video, the man shows how he has set up two empty laundry baskets in the boot of his car, ready to store all of his shopping. These baskets can then be carried to and from the car with ease.

He explained: “Start throwing your food into those laundry baskets. Just keep throwing it in there until it’s filled up to the top.
“Now you can just drive home. I just saved you a ton of time by skipping the bagging process with this great grocery hack.”
However, commenters were quick to point out that certain food items could become damaged if you don’t approach this method with caution. User @juliam8988 said you should always load “heavy things first” otherwise softer or fragile food items could become squashed.
Another user said that the hack isn’t inclusive for all shoppers. Alex Densmore said: “That only works if you have a car. I take the bus there and then I Uber home. I don’t even know how to drive.”

How to quickly and efficiently pack a grocery bag
Many shoppers have moved towards using reusable shopping bags, which is a great boost for the environment. If you prefer to carry your shopping in a bag, there are some handy ways of organising your shopping to speed up the packing process and ensure you get everything home in one piece.
Blogger Rashelle, who runs the blog The Order Expert, shared her top tips for properly packing your supermarket shop. This begins at the check-out conveyor belt.
She explained: “You can save yourself some time and effort by pre-sorting groceries at the conveyor belt. All you have to do is load heavier items towards the front of the conveyor belt. This not only allows you to pack bags faster, but it allows you to start building foundations for several grocery bags at once.”
She then recommends packing items in layers, starting with heavy items on the bottom and lighter items on the top.
Rashelle also recommends thinking about the shape of each of your items, to ensure you use every space possible.
She said: “The average shopping cart is filled with a variety of geometric shapes.
“These include rectangular blocks and square boxes (cereal, boxed mixes, facial tissues), cylinders (cans, jars), spheres (apples, oranges, melons), and oblong shapes (bananas, pineapples).
“Use these shapes and structures to help set up sturdy foundations in a bag. Stand items upright as much as possible to help create structure and prevent potential spillage.”
